A born and bred native of Mexico City, Chef Edgar Navarro embarked upon the first leg of his culinary journey at the Moma Restaurant in New York City. Following stints around the United States and Europe, Edgar returned to his Mexican roots, finding his niche in his cooking and creating wonderful dishes with a unique twist on traditional delicacies. From there, his career snowballed and he landed his first post as Executive Chef at Zi, in Zihuatanejo. Edgar’s menu boasted a contemporary spin on authentic Mexican dishes, and quirky signatures included grasshoppers, agave-warmed tacos and lamb with pumpkin seed pesto.
Edgar went on to express his passion as a chef through intra-regional food & beverage events, and has been regularly touted by celebrity chefs who have worked with him as “an up-and-coming star” in contemporary Mexican cuisine. Edgar achieved yet another milestone in 2014, when he opened his first Mexican restaurant in Whistler B.C Canada, which was nominated as “Best Restaurant” by Vancouver Magazine. Now, Edgar lends his creative genius to helm the kitchen of MEXUS, ZS Hospitality Group’s Mexican and American concept in No. 8 Lyndhurst Terrace in Hong Kong.
